the verge of change

Hello all :)

Had my first day at my new job today, it went well ^_^ I'm so glad I don't smell like chips any more I'll tell you that!

Here's a beautiful snap of a red moon over the Acropolis

Also, saw the Immortals trailer today! The picture in that movie is just unbelievably amazing!! The style is very 300ish, and is really breathtaking. I still don't know how I feel about Theseus using a bow and arrow and Zeus a whip, but I promise to keep an open mind! If you haven't checked it out please do! :)
I'm off to research for my essay on Democracy, and we shall bid adieu till next time!

Time to say goodbye

Helllooo!

It's been a while! I came across this thing, called 'Wiki Travel' it's pretty epic! I was reading about Athens and Rome! It's interesting to note that apparently Athens has a lot of stray dogs, yay for me -_- and apparently both cities have a lot of pick pocketer's, so beware! And then my grandma was talking about Rome and telling us all about it, I have to admit I have the travel bug again! Our holidays are at a bad time, meaning I would have to postpone a semester of Uni, to go to Europe in the summer :(
Ah well!

Anyway we went to a historical mansion today in Werribee! It was so beautiful and the Rose Garden was just as pretty!

FINALLY WENT TO SEE KING TUT!

Today was the day!! Finally after months of waiting we went to see the Tutankhamun exhibition!!

It was amazing, truly epic!! lol the girls all thought all the Ancient Egyptians looked like me hahah. Shelby found out she is King Tutankhamun reincarnated (I'm serious she has evidence for this haha) and Lenka thought fish could drown!

It was just awesome! the gift shop was just aaammmaazzziiinnggg!! Little did I know, after the gift shop for the exhibition there was another store which had gifts from the British Museum and the Lourve. I nearly died I swear!! I saw some of the stuff that I had already bought from the British Museum. Oh man it was just soo cool!!

Here are a few snaps!

I don't know if you can see but that's a magnet of Victory at Samothrace (EPICCC), and the three keyrings are of a helmet, Medusa and a little Greek soldier. AWESOME!!

The photo came out weird, but it's an inflatable mummy! ahhaha :D

It was truly amazing. I love looking at Ancient Artifacts and thinking wow this is thousands of years old!! People back then used these. It's just insane! ^_^

Weirdness

Hey guys,

Today was a weird day, it was beyond weird it was just plain freaky. First off, Lenka and I were having our usual Wednesday lunch on the lawn in front of the State Library we then get approached by a complete stranger who sits in front of us and says that we are "lovely gorgeous women with beautiful names" it was weird, we were scared. It's always us who get approached always! haha. After that we watched a little boy perform Michael Jackson's songs he was so cute! His outfits were adorable. Then we got lost but all in all it was a fun day nonetheless!

I took a photo of the GIANT Anubis statue at the entrance of Southern Cross Station in Melbourne, I must say I was very impressed it's amazing! And Anubis travels around with the exhibition to various cities (Sherb I don't know how you missed it, it's huge!!).

Fun Facts about Anubis!
- Anubis is actually the Greek name for the Egyptian god known as Ipnu!
- He was associated with the mummification and protection of dead, in the afterlife and the journey that they take part in.
- The Jackal was associated with cemeteries because there was the threat that it would eat the flesh of the bodies.

On Wednesday the girls and I are finally making our way to Tutankhamun! Sooo excited man! ^_^ It's all I've been thinking about! And turning 19 this Friday, man I feel old!! Last year as a teen!

On a different note, I bought the book Water for Elephants and read it over the weekend. I loved it! I found the imagery of the circus to be really brilliant and exciting! I also now have a deeper appreciation for elephants :) I'm quite excited for the movie, the book was great! Next on the reading list is the Handmaid's tale. A dystopian science-fiction novel, the book seems very interesting! Can't wait to read it.

Quote of the day:
Me: "Liam Neeson's filming the second Clash of the Titans!"
Lenka: "what!? that was shit, what a crap movie!!"
Me: "were still going to watch it, right?"
Lenka: " Hell yeah!" bahaha.

Until later!

time to blog again.

Hey guys

I was in a 'blogging mood' so here I am! So next week the girls and I are going to *fingers crossed* go to the Tutankhamun exhibition soooo excited! I'll post some pictures too :)
Part of the excitement comes from the Gift Shop, it's the highlight and I love how they put it at the end, just makes it all the more awesome. You never know what goodies you will come across at a Museum Gift Shop, ahhh. Museums are great, seriously I would live in one if I could. They are so amazing and so awe-inspiring. The last exhibition we went to was the Titanic Exhibition and that was mind blowing!!! Seriously one of the greatest exhibitions ever!!!

I came across this Yves Saing Laurent perfume for men, very interesting concept and name!

Kinda cool eh?

Sup peeps

Hey guys

So I'm actually feeling pretty good lately, quite happy really :) i'm content with everything at the moment (except for now when I have 700 words to go on my essay due tomorrow), things are going quite happily. I have a lot to be thankful for including great friends and a fantastic family that keep me smiling all the time.....except for the early hours in the morning, but hey that's just me and I could sleep forever! haha.

Lately I've been procrastinating heaps! It's so bad :/ I usually just fall into these mega geeky phases where I do everything and study heaps. But as of now it's just forcing myself and doing essays the night before! But I promise I will create a new studying regime and stick with it, hope it's not like me and diets :P haha!

Anyway it's my parents 20th wedding anniversary this year in April! :D So exciting my sisters and I are planning a celebration for them! Were thinking Croqenbuche and awesome decorations! I'm so excited this will *fingers crossed* be a huge surprise for them if my little sister doesn't spill the beans lol. Oh and it will be my birthday soon! :D 17 days!! And I'll be 19! It's such a random age, in the middle of 18 and 20, probably because it's an odd number haha.
SO yeah that's my life at the moment I have so many places to go from Ikea to party supply shops in the next few weeks haaha should be fun!
Lenka and I are going to watch Red Riding Hood tomorrow, I think we'll both pee our pants getting scared! I swear if I have nightmares she has to pay compensation for therapy hahah!

This episode was awesome! Barney and Robin see how far they can go touching stuff at the Museum it's soooo funny :D something i would love to do hahah!
p.s. LOVE LOVE LOVE this comic above made me giggle for days!!

Martian Slippers FTW

Sup guys

Had an incredibly funny day with Lenka today!! It was insane and yes we received some very weird looks haha!

Quote of the day: *lenka pointing hands at each other* "So are you guys like together?" hahahaha haahah it was insanely funny!

I finally bought my Martian Slippers today they are way too awesome! My little sister is jealous of them and tries to steal them!

I'm also sick which fails as I have three assessments due and a driving test to practice for :(
I would also like to take the time to say a shout out to Japan and hope they are on the fast road to recovery. What you have gone through is a terrible and unimaginable ordeal and my thoughts are with you all.
That's it for now!

Everything Changes!

Hey guys

Wow it's been a few months. So much has happened and so after starting Uni again I thought I would start blogging too! So this semester has been pretty great so far! Nearly all 4 of my subjects are focussing on Ancient Greece right now, which is great! I have a passage analysis on the Iliad, which I have missed doing so it should be fun! I've also started learning Ancient Greek. WOW! It's so awesome but really hard at the same time. There's also a lot to memorise, and I hate rote learning so I'll have to suck it up haha. I can successfully read it but I don't know what the words mean haha except for a few.

I guess this semester started out differently to how I pictured it. So much has changed and I've realised that things can really change in a second, in a blink of the eye. It's so weird to think that certain things would remain the same forever, or for at least a long time and then suddenly they're cut off and you're left standing as if someone just slapped your face. It's a horrible feeling and hopefully as time goes on so too will this terrible feeling. I guess you're just left going how could this have gone wrong and feeling angry.

But yeah, Uni's been good! Lenka and I went and watched the Adjustment Bureau the other day with Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. I really enjoyed it and it was about this idea of fate, and how our lives are all mapped out for us from the moment we are born. However Matt Damon's character has to 'fight his fate' to end up being with the girl he loves. It was interesting to compare this notion of fate, where we have free will and we make our own decisions, we determine our own fates to that of fate in the Iliad. Where fate is a presupposed conception and there is no way to change it at all, it's just something which is accepted.

Also we were studying Euripides' Trojan Women and after reading it again, I have come to the conclusion that it is my favourite play, one of my favourites....*cough Antigone cough* haha. It's such an incredibly powerful representation of the most innocent, in a time of war. I think it's influence comes particularly from the fact that it still very much appeals to what were going through today. From Iraq to Libia, Egypt and Yemen it's just a heart wrenching play every scene worst than the last. It makes you feel so terrible afterwards, man Euripides you really were fantastic! Some 2,000 years later people are still studying your plays, still performing them. It's amazing. I really want to see a live production of this play, it would be incredible!!!

Also going for my driving test soon! eeeeep i'll let you know if I pass haha :/
And we also have the Tutankhamun exhibition opening up in April in Melbourne can't wait for it! :D

I also have two weddings coming up, and one of them is big. Which means fancy dress and everything! I'll post pictures up when it's passed haha :)

This blog post's shout out's go to-
Shelby: "That wasn't too bad" what she said after we had lunch at the Conservatory bahahaha it still makes me laugh.
Alenka: the two fail guys who couldn't find their seat at the movies and we both nearly peed our pants!

The Book Challenge

Hey guys

So I love reading and I love books, my weekly trips to Borders persuaded me to do the Book Challenge, where I shall endeavour to read the 100 top Classic Novel of all time! :D
I'm using the BBC List so far and the books that I have already read I will replace with books from other various lists, the lists that include the Twilight series by Stephanie Myer will not be included, I cannot handle anyone who deems that series a all time classic novel.

So first up is Leo Tolstoy's novel War and Peace I just started it and it's already becoming quite interesting it's 1,000 pages so don't expect a review too soon! After reading each book I will post a review and my interpretation of the novel :)

I'm really excited to start and I will be buying each book so at the end I will have a collection of them all!

Until next time
